Saffron – Kesar

About Saffron KesarSaffron or Kesar occupies a unique place in our culture and tradition. This is an exotic, valuable and expensive herb and known as a “Herb Fit for Kings “. It is well known for its coloring, flavoring, and medicinal properties. It is an important cash crop that is a native of Southern Europe. It is a bulbous perennial plant belonging to the family Iridaceae. It is produced by drying the stigmas and part of the styles of the crocus flower. To create one pound of dry saffron, about 50,000 to 75,000 flowers are needed and more than 20 hours of labor just to pick the crocuses.

Traditionally, saffron has been used to promote fairness of the complexion. It is an herb used to achieve healthy, beautiful and fair skin. It is widely used in cosmetics. It is beneficial for skin problems and skin cleansing action. Saffron is an excellent skin-whitener. It lightens the complexion making it look fairer.

  • Mix saffron or Kesar in almond oil and apply it on the skin. It soothes and moisturizes the skin giving it a glow.
  • Mix 5 strands of saffron in1 tbsp of raw milk and soak it for some time. Milk turns pink. Apply it to the face and neck and leave it for 15-20 minutes for fair and healthy-looking skin. Then rinse off. Repeat it regularly.
  • Saffron can be mixed with any Face Pack. It enhances the skin complexion.
  • Saffron or Kesar oil is astringent and antiseptic. It is used to cure many skin problems, including acne treatments and bug bites and stings.
  • Mix 6-7 strands of saffron to 2 tbsp of olive oil and 2 tbsp of almond oil in a pan. Boil water and hold the pan over the boiling water, stirring constantly. Cool the mixture and apply it on the body after bathing. It nurtures the skin and smells pleasant.
