To create one pound of dry saffron, about 50,000 to 75,000 flowers are needed and more than 20 hours of labor just to pick the crocuses. Saffron is used in Chinese, Tibetan, Unani and Ayurvedic medicines. It is warm and dry in action and is an excellent stimulant.
